The Kord family e-mailed recently to tell us about their Persian restaurant - Lazziz. The family is from Iran and Masoud Zand manages the restaurant, which has been open since July. It’s attached to a market on Nolensville Road near the zoo. The menu is primarily kebab based. They do venture out with Ghormeh Sabzi veal stew, Torshi pickled vegetables, barley soup.
I’ll try and get by soon for some solo visits, since it doesn’t look like there is much there for the vegetarian. If you have been there let us know what you thought.

I haven't found anything there that really turns me on EXCEPT THE SOUPS. Barley (with lime) and Vegetable...both are unique & some of the best I've ever had. Also, their cucumber & yogurt sauce is good with their warm, soft (and very thin) bread. The veal stew way over-salted and a couple of other things my wife & I tried show they haven't quite gotten it together. But I've been there 4 times just for the SOUP. Worth it.
Thanks for the tip Ed. Probably worth a trip for great soup, especially this time of year. Too bad about the stew...that looked good.
Hey Ed, we really appreciate your insight. You really get around Nashville from a dining perspective...if you're ever interested in doing guest reviews on the blog let us know!
If you guys go, would you mind checking to see if they're barley and vegetable soups use animal stock? I love Persian food...
Just got back from Lazziz. Their Thursday chicken special is quite good. All their entrees INCLUDE the soup. The colder it gets, the more they'll see me.
We eat lunch out every single day...right now I'm content to follow where YOU'VE BEEN. But if I find a new place that does it for me, you'll be the first to know. Chances are, you'll beat me to it.
The cream soups at Cafe Bosna are a KNOCKOUT, by the way. It's 20 miles from my home, though! I'll go just about anywhere for great soup.
Ed: That does sound like a good deal at Lazziz. And Cafe Bosna has been calling for us as well, perhaps soups next stop. It is a haul, but well worth it. Lesley: I'll definitely ask if the soup is veggie friendly. The Veggie Eater might actually go if there are a few really good things she could eat.
Will give this place a shot for sure. I wonder of the kubideh here is as good as the USA Bakery restaurant kubideh, which we really like.
