Blind Pig No. 55 has closed up shop. The 12 South enterprise was lauded for it's attention to creative side dishes and frequently criticized for mediocre, over-priced barbecue selections. Chris at the Scene broke the news this morning and the Blind Pig web site confirms. Fish & Co., the new seafood restaurant by the same ownership group will move from it's current location into the Blind Pig spot.

I went into The Blind Pig no fewer than three times, at (what I consider to be) reasonable hours (9pm, 6pm) and was told on each occasion that "they'd just closed for the night." I assumed that I was cursed.
Then I bought the groupon for them, thinking they HAD to be open at some point, and that closed them down for good.
I never got a chance to try the food.
Anyway, sorry for shutting them down with my curse.
I just bought a Groupon for the Blind Pig 2 weeks ago that I haven't used yet. It seems a little shady to have offered a Groupon so soon before closing when surely they must have already been contemplating closing. When I bought the Groupon, over 1,500 people had already bought - no telling how many in total bought a Groupon and haven't used it yet.
That groupon thing is a bummer. I wonder if they would be good enough to let people apply Blind Pig groupons to Fish and Co? I have an e-mail in to find out.
Groupon has a no-hassle refund policy. Just send them an email (or use the form on their website) and they'll give you your money back, no questions asked.
The Groupon folks are really great, and really will refund that coupon no problem.
As to Blind Pig, I never tried it, because I never once read a good review.
I bought a Nashville Originals certificate for them during the last go-round that I was going to use soon. I wonder if NO will refund that?
I emailed Nashville Originals and was told the Blind Pig certificate would be honored at Fish & Co.
the new Fish&Co menu has plenty of lower price point options. Yesterday, there was an artist painting a large mural on the former Pig interior--so they are looking to change that drab vibe. the neighborhood will support a place w/good food and ambience...fingers crossed.
Nancy: The menu change does look promising. I really do hope they can pull off the move. It's a great location.
